Life is a LOT better here in Palo Alto as I am getting to know how things are working. I have come to terms with the fact that it will take me some time to build my credit history. Which means that cash and debit cards (and my Danish creditcards) is still my way to go.

Workwise things are picking up I get a lot of positive feedback on Propeoples products.

We are by far portfoliowise the biggest Episerver company in US. That’s pretty exciting!

Drupal is really rocking here in California so I am excited to be here and I am sure this will be a great succes.

This week has been crazy I have been driving around most of the time. From one meeting to an other. Starting out monday morning in LA (yes I drove there – wont do it again…) meetings in San Francisco both tuesday and wednesday. So busy week.

Time is flying and Propeople is speeding up!

And AspektaPropeople launched their first Drupal website YAY www.oresundshuset.nu great work!

Michael out (Welin expression)….

Small update about me in US

So I finally got my social security number! With a social security number in the US you now slowly start to exist. Right after I received it I could go out and buy an iPhone I “only” had to security deposit 1000 USD – Well AT&T rip-off but at least I have a phone (so I am now reachable on (650) 384.9655).

By having a phone and paying the monthly bills I will start to build my credit history. Next step will be gas cards, store cards etc. I will post which ones that turns out to be easy to get and which are not.

I signup and got into Silicon Vikings and Dabgo 2 Scandinavian/Danish networks I am really looking forward to get to the first “meetings” there and meet other professionals in bay area.

The Propeople Palo Alto office will be furnished Friday next week. And Internet is only 2-3 weeks away. So soon the office will be armed and ready!

This morning in TV I saw Hector De La Torres Commercial – Pretty cool! Check out the website we build: www.delatorre2010.com

Nice picture on the frontpage made by Igor (AD in Propeople) and yes the first I actually did when I arrived was to buy an iPad ;-)

Especially for alien entrepreneurs wanting to startup in the US

Especially for alien entrepreneurs wanting to startup in the US. I have really been through a lot so far in terms of getting Propeople Inc. Launched.

First step was getting the VISA not an easy thing! Tons of docs and forms needs to be filled out and a good idea is to sign up with a good immigration lawyer who knows their way around the VISA system. I chose http://www.usa-eurolaw.com/ which I was happy with.

Normally the VISA takes around 6 months to get mine only took 3 months from we started the work until I got it. Great to get it fast – not so good that I was behind with sending furniture etc.

I ended up getting an L1A visa that allows me to work in the US. All right what else?

Well the VISA is just the beginning there is tons of other things. American drivers license! Social Security number, Insurance, Credit history, opening a bank account etc.

Its very difficult to rent a house even buy a phone with the above. The drivers license, Social security number and insurance you can get by standing in line, filling out forms and taking tests. And you can even open a bank account just by bringing your passport. But the credit history is really complex. You need to build credit history fast showing that you can build debt and pay it off in the terms agreed!

In Denmark this sounds crazy. If you never had debt and are able to pay everything you want in cash the companies more or less are throwing products after you. That is not the case here.

I pretty much sorted out everything else than this building credit history.

Someone suggested that I paid the car over 12 months to build history to show that I am able to pay build credit. In the social security office the officer suggested to get Gas credit cards and shopping/mall cards to build credit here.

I will probably try everything and share it here. Good suggestions are also highly appreciated!

As the guy in Bank of America said we will take your money into the bank but you will find it hard to spend if you don’t have a credit history – strange….

Sometimes things look like they where not meant to be. That is for sure how we felt it when we left Saturday for our American adventure. (Moving to America with my wife and two kids – to startup Propeople inc.)

Several flight delays, several flights where cancelled and it just continued forever and ever. My two kids (age 2 and 4) kept the spirit high even though the hours reached 75+ and they deserved all the gifts we bought them today :-)

The only thing that kept me going was my grand master plan of making www.MyNightmareTripWithDeltaairlines.com and telling them how F***** up they treated us and letting the entire world know. And in a couple of weeks I might…

Propeople inc.
Propeople in America ey? Yes we are here and in a few weeks the office will be 100% running and ready to kick some serious web ass!

The office is located @ 1121 San Antonio Road in Palo Alto CA, feel free to stop by suite 201-203 if you’re in the neighborhood. We are looking for new employees take a look at our positions here: http://www.wearepropeople.com/Jobs
